Chris Cairns has been approached by the Indian Cricket League (ICL) but he says he is “far from signing up with them”. However, he has not ruled out coming out of retirement to join the league if a substantial offer came his way.”There have been some queries from them but let me tell you I have not spoken directly to anyone,” Cairns told on a visit to New Delhi. “I have my agents in New Zealand who take care of all this. I know what’s happening on that front but I am far from signing up with them.”Cairns, 37, has not played international cricket for 18 months and said that only an “irresistible offer” would entice him back. “I am enjoying my time away from the game and I have no plans to come out of retirement as of now,” he said. “If a good offer comes I will consider it but I will have to start training and lose some weight before taking the plunge.”Although New Zealand Cricket has voiced its opposition to the unsanctioned ICL, Cairns is no longer a contracted player and is therefore free to join the league if he chooses. The same is true of his former team-mate Chris Harris, who rejected a new domestic deal with Canterbury for next season amid speculation he would sign with the ICL.
