Sporting CP have paid homage to Cristiano Ronaldo by designing their third kit in honour of the legendary forward.

Sporting announced the release of the kit, a black shirt designed with a gold number seven on the front, on social media with an advert that included Ronaldo's son modelling the new shirt. The club want to encourage the next generation to aspire to be like Ronaldo and by wearing the new shirt, they could fulfil that legacy. The club said: "There are numbers that leave a Legacy: the next 7 could be you."

Ronaldo came through the Sporting academy and broke into the first team before joining Manchester United. The Portuguese captain went on to shine at United before becoming a superstar and the top goalscorer ever at Real Madrid. Ronaldo has not stopped scoring, wherever he has played, including Juventus, a return to United and then a switch to Al-Nassr where he plays now.

This is not the first time Sporting have honoured the Portuguese great. They also released a CR7-inspired kit in 2022/23 that crowned Ronaldo as the 'best in the world. The club are keen to maintain their connection to the five-time Ballon d'Or winner and only strengthen that with yet another Ronaldo kit, modelled by his son.
AFPWHAT NEXT FOR SPORTING CP?
Following a humiliating first home defeat of the season by Arsenal in the Champions League, Sporting will look to bounce back against CD Santa Clara on Saturday. The club's manager, Ruben Amorim, departed for Manchester United this month and will hope Joao Pereira can step up from his position as the reserve team's coach and lead the first team to the Liga Portugal title.
