Leeds United should know by Wednesday if transfer target Jerry Mbakogu is heading to Elland Road this summer, according to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta di Modena, as cited by Sport Witness.
What’s the story?
Leeds have been interested in signing the Carpi striker for some time as Marcelo Bielsa looks to strengthen his attacking options for the season ahead.
The 25-year-old joined Carpi in 2014 and he scored six goals in 26 appearances for the Serie B club last season.
According to the latest report, the Nigerian is not expected to turn up to pre-season training on Wednesday in order to force a move, and this will be a big sign that a move to Leeds is imminent.

Things are hotting up
Leeds fans are eager for the club to start making transfer announcements and hopefully this is a sign that things are starting to happen for the Yorkshire club.
So far only Lewis Baker has arrived at Elland Road this summer and a striker or two will definitely be on Bielsa’s wishlist with Matej Vydra also heavily linked with a move.

Mbakogu, who is valued at £1.8million on Transfermarkt, may not have proven himself to be the lethal goalscorer Leeds want, but if he can form a partnership with Vydra they could form a deadly double act that could take the Championship by storm.
