Welcome back to another Fantasy Premier League article from us at FootballFanCast, and today we will be looking at lesser-owned players that could be a decent differential ahead of Gameweek 11.
If you haven’t checked it out yet, we analysed all the bandwagon transfers in and out as well, so you know whether it’s a good choice to jump on the train or hold off for now.
But back to the differentials. Why again should we buy players that nobody else has thought to bring in again? Well firstly it’s because you could have the opportunity to score points that your private league opponents will not… and secondly, if your player does well, it boosts your all-important team value ahead of your second wildcard.
It’s much easier to buy a player in form, but then their price would already be steep and apart from points they may (or may not) score, there’s not much other importance in owning them.
Anyways, here are Three Fantasy Premier League Differential Picks (around 5% or less ownership) ahead of Gameweek 11!
Virgil Van Dijk
Southampton have an enticing set of upcoming fixtures, with Bournemouth (Home), Sunderland (Away), Stoke(Home), and Aston Villa (Home) coming in their next five, with only a tough trip to Manchester City in Gameweek 14.
And while many are jumping on the Graziano Pelle and Sadio Mane trains, Virgil van Dijk (5.5 and owned by 1.8%) could be a real differential option for your back-line.
The centre-back is known for scoring goals (8 league goals for Celtic last season) and already has two to his name for the Saints this term, so he has the potential to provide you points at both ends of the pitch.
Aleksandar Mitrovic
After a rather petulant start to the season with 2 yellow cards and one red in his first four games, Aleksandar Mitrovic (6.2 and owned by 1.2%) seems to have finally cooled his Mario Balotelli comparison and has two goals in his last four matches.
Newcastle were unlucky to be beaten 3-0 by Sunderland following a harsh dismissal to Collocini last weekend and with an inconsistent Stoke City rolling up at St. James’ Park on Saturday, Mitrovic has every opportunity to get on the score-sheet.
After the Stoke game, the Magpies play Bournemouth (Away), Leiciester (Home), and then Crystal Palace (Away), giving him three games that may offer him chances in front of goal.
Wilfried Bony
When Sergio Aguero pulled his hamstring and was confirmed to miss over a month of football, many Fantasy managers swapped him out and brought in the likes of Graziano Pelle, Romelu Lukaku, and Jamie Vardy into their squads.
However, the obvious replacement would be Wilfried Bony (8.3 and still owned by just 4.7%), who is now guaranteed to lead Manchester City’s front line for two more enticing games with Norwich (Home) and Aston Villa (Away).
Those brave enough to bring him in were already rewarded with 2 goals and 1 assist against Bournemouth, and if the former Swansea hitman continues this form Pellegrini may give Aguero more time to recover and allow Bony to lead the line for even longer.
