Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold put in an outstanding display in his side’s 4-0 win against title challengers Leicester City on Boxing Day, having a hand in all four of the goals.
The 21-year-old has once again been in outstanding form for the Reds in 2019/20, and took his tally to 10 assists in 27 appearances in all competitions this term with two against the Foxes, while it was also his corner that Caglar Soyuncu handled.
He also scored a magnificent goal from outside the area into Kasper Schmeichel’s bottom corner, and so it was no surprise that supporters of the Merseyside outfit were discussing his display on Twitter.
That said, it wasn’t the perfect display from the England international, who according to SofaScore lost possession 37 times against Brendan Rodgers’ men.
It is an understandable stat given the amount of risks Alexander-Arnold takes in possession and the number of balls he puts into the box, and it clearly paid off in this particular fixture.
Lots of supporters were certainly waxing lyrical about him, as you can see below after a highlights reel of his display was posted on Twitter.
Rather than just using various superlatives to describe the right-back’s showing, others suggested that the 21-year-old should skipper the Reds in the future – Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dijk will certainly have something to say about that in the immediate future, so he may have to wait his turn.
Another supporter acknowledged Alexander-Arnold’s class and described him as “the best full-back in the world”, but also admitted that he can struggle defensively.
No clues: Can you name the season these iconic Liverpool images belong to?
That may be the case as he continues to learn and improve, but there wasn’t too many signs of him struggling after helping Liverpool to a clean sheet at the King Power.
